Overview

MURWILLUMBAH TO DUNBIBLE

The rail trail begins in Murwillumbah at our shop within the old Railway Station where we will custom fit an E-bike for you. Following a safety briefing you will embark on the first stretch of the ride to Dunbible, an easy ride that includes a tar-sealed section overlooking the sugar cane fields. You may choose to stop at the Tweed Regional Art Gallery and the Margaret Olley Art Centre, just look out for the sign and the steps to the Arts Centre. You can also have refreshments at the Arts Centre café overlooking the Tweed River and Mt Wollumbin the impressive central core of the old volcano.

DUNBIBLE VILLAGE & STOKERS SIDING

This part of the rail trail takes you through stands of native bush and rolling pastures on the way to Dunbible train station and Stokers Siding village where you will find refreshment options. Feel free to lock your E-bike and explore the village.

STOKERS SIDING TO BURRINGBAR

You head up a slight hill section of the trail towards the 500-metre-long Burringbar Tunnel. Turn on your E-bike light here as the centre of the tunnel is particularly dark. The tunnel contains glow worms and small bats, if undisturbed you might catch a glimpse of their impressive glow.

Once out of the tunnel you will head down through the upper reaches of the picturesque Burringbar Valley, this section of the rail trail contains old native rain forest and is part of the Scenic Rim, the side wall of the old volcano. You will be crossing many rail bridges, passing under Tweed Valley way, and hugging the Burringbar Creek into Burringbar village which again has some food and drink options.

BURRINGBAR TO CRABBES CREEK

As you head towards Mooball, the rail trail takes you across several smaller rail bridges, as well as a long one over the Burringbar Creek. This picturesque part of the ride offers stunning views of the surrounding native bush and rolling fields. Mooball is a popular spot for motorcycle enthusiasts, and it’s a great place to stop for refreshments or a meal.

After leaving Mooball, you’ll pass through the Hulls Road tunnel on your way towards Crabbes Creek. If you want to take a detour, there’s a side path leading to Crabbes Creek where you can explore the area. Then, head back onto the trail through a beautiful native forest that feels like a tree tunnel all the way to the end of the trail.

MOOBALL – VICTORY PUB

If you would like to use our shuttle bus service, we can arrange to meet you at the Victory Pub to take you and your E-bike back to Murwillumbah or return you to your accommodation. Please make sure to take some time at the pub to celebrate your Best Day Ever!
