Byron Bay to Crabbes Creek Rail Trial

31km of Scenic Beauty: Byron Bay’s Rail Trail Adventure

This section of the trail will be another popular section of the trail with easy access from our depot in the Arts and Industrial Estate, U2/11 Grevillea Street, Byron Bay. This 31km trail heads north out of Byron Bay through an impressive stand of swamp gums and a flood plain just behind the beach sand dunes. You then cross under the M1 as it heads across to Mullumbimby, a quintessential Northern Rivers town with a large range of food and beverage options on offer. It’s an ideal watering stop in either direction.

After passing through Mullumbimby, you cross the Brunswick River and then the trail heads back towards the coast towards Bullinudgel which will soon become the epicentre of trails connections to Brunswick Heads, Ocean Shores and South Golden Beach.

The Mullumbimby to Brunswick Heads section is almost approved for construction which will be a welcome start to this important section of trail.

This section is also very picturesque, passing along the edge of Jinangong Nature Reserve before going though the tunnel then heading into Bullinudgel, a welcome refreshment stop. The Bullinudgel Hotel sits just 20m from the track and the Hotel is certainly worth a visit.

After leaving Bullinudgel, the trail heads into the complete cover of lush trees and rain forest. The trail then passes through the edge of the North Byron Parklands before heading under the Tweed Valley motorway, meeting the already complete section of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail under the Wooyung Road wooden bridge. From here you’ll ride along the well-used section of the trail into the Tweed Shire.
