Easy 2-Hour Ride Through Trees, Farms, and Valleys
This section of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail is now in the feasibilty stage of development and may be open late 2025 - 2026.
The trail begins at the South Lismore Station and heads north east for 15.2km. Take a short detour across the Wilsons River into the heart of Lismore and help support the locals devastated by the record flood just over a year ago.
The trail then crosses the Leycester Creek and loops around the north side of Lismore township. The trail continues along the Wilsons River before taking a right turn and following the river up the valley towards Bexhill, another good refeshment stop. This section is surrounded by trees and farm land providing good cover if you’re getting hot. The expansive views of the Lismore Valley are left behind and much of this part of the trail crosses rolling farm land and gorgeous tree covered hills with macadamia and pecan nut farms starting to appear.
The trail then weaves through rolling hill country to Eltham which is the end of this section. Here you can drop into the famous Eltham Pub for a cold beverage in the garden bar, an important social gathering point for the local community.
